This panel will seek to examine the Single National Curriculum in Pakistan through the lens of the UNSDG - 4 and Istanbul Process. Discussants will consider the gaps in the existing Pakistani textbooks and curricula in the representation of ethnic/religious minorities and examine how the Single National Curriculum addresses these gaps.

Under this theme, the discussion will seek to consider the steps taken to revise the existing textbooks and introduce new texts designed to enhance the UNSDG – 4 agenda and Global Citizenship.  The discussants will seek to identify the impact of divisive stereotypes in educational materials and how do we study them?

Under this theme, the panelists may draw upon the content and delivery of education and how that can be systematically distorted to create divides between people, communities, different religious and ethnic groups, or even countries.

If, as the UN 2021 Human Rights Day declared, we are “All Human, All Equal,” then how can the European Parliament and the international community help Pakistan revise and implement a Single National Curriculum that will achieve the goals of social cohesion, uphold minority rights and include refugee children in schools, within its educational system?
